The Information and Communications Technology Department reports to the Head of Department of Information and Knowledge Management (DKIM), and is accountable for the support and maintenance of all computer applications and systems, hardware and software that are used in the Institution.
The ICT Department main functions are among the following:
· Internet/Intranet;
· Technical Services;
· Carry out preventive and curative maintenance of all hardware, Software and the LAN in the Institution;
· Disaster Recovery;
· Local Area Network Expansion;
· File Storage;
· General IT Support to other departments;
· Website Management.
CETRAD runs a rich hydromet data and information base generated from its long term and comprehensive monitoring network in the upper Ewaso Ngiro North river basin. Most of this data is now linked through a real time transmission system and interfaced to its database as well as to some selected Water Resources Users Associations (WRUAs) in the upstream areas.
