DR. BONIFACE KITEME
Director
Dr. Boniface Kiteme holds a MA in Planning (UoN) and a PhD in Natural Resources Management from the Institute of Geography, University of Bern Switzerland. He has researched in semi-arid environments and areas in transition, and has been a part-time lecturer in the Department of Geography, University of Nairobi for over twenty (20) years. He was recently granted a UNESCO Chair (co-chaired with Prof. Dr. Stephan Rist of University of Bern) on Natural and Cultural Heritage for Sustainable Mountains Development. He was appointed CETRAD’s Director in the year 2002.

Dr. CAROLINE A. OUKO
Ag. Deputy Director, Research & Development
Dr. Caroline A. Ouko have a strong track record in networking and stakeholder engagement, partnership modelling and relationship building. She is a multi-skilled professional with over 15 years’ experience in leadership, policy development and facilitating change in the Agriculture and Environment sectors; Efficiently applying innovative participatory approaches involving the government agencies, local communities, private partnerships and other stakeholder categories (transdisciplinary). She holds a PhD Environmental Policy from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Science degree (majoring in Soil Science). She is an Environmental Management specialist with over 15 years progressive involvement in various initiatives, geared towards supporting the global agenda on environmental management both in Kenya and Canada. She joined CETRAD in 2009 and currently heads the policy and outreach department. She is also the training coordinator for short-term trainings.

JACINTA MUCHUGU
Finance and Administration
Jacinta is a Certified Public Accountant and also holds a certificate in Social Work from the Kenya Institute of Administration. She joined CETRAD in the year 1990 and has over twenty years’ experience in finance and administration. She is currently the head of the Finance and Administration and Human Resource Management.

Grace Wambugu
Senior Research Assistant
Grace holds a Diploma in Socio-Work and Socio-Development from the University of Nairobi. Presently she is a Coordinator of various projects implemented under Research and Academic Training and Outreach Department. She is also managing CETRAD’s Socio-Economic Data Bank.
She has previously been involved in Research Projects including; Wetland project in Laikipia, RAAM project in Upper Ewaso Ngiro, Ngolo Cultivation Technology (NCT) in Kitui, Economic Stimulus Programme in Laikipia and Radio for Rural Development in the Eastern ASALs. All these projects involved specific Government Departments, Local Communities and private partnerships where her main role was Co-ordination.

JAMES WANJAU
ICT Technical Manager and Web Developer
James holds a BSc in Information Systems and Technology from United States International University and a Diploma in Computer Studies from the Kenya Polytechnic University College. He has over 20 years of experience in ICT resources management and infrastructure development. James joined CETRAD in February 2016 to manage ICT resources and to implement the Social and Hydrological Information Platform (SHIP) among other online dissemination tools.

JOHN MWANGI
Research scientist/WLRC Project Coordinator
John holds an MSc in Land and Water Management and a BSc in Management of Agro-Ecosystems and Environment from University of Nairobi. He has over three years professional experience in the fields of scientific research and project management. He joined CETRAD in May 2014 for his MSc and was appointed Water Land resource Centre (WLRC) Project coordinator in January 2016.

MILTON MUTUMA
Research Assistant
Milton has a Diploma in Water Resources Management and Engineering. He has three years of experience in Water Management using the latest technologies of monitoring the changes in Weather and River flow patterns within Ewaso Nyiro River Basin. Milton joined CETRAD in 2013 and is currently a Research Assistant in the department of Research and Academic Training responsible for; field data collection, running of the CETRADs Hydro-Met network and maintenance of the Hydro-Met databases.

EMMA ODERA
Research Assistant and Community Development Officer
Emma holds a Masters in Environmental Studies and Community Development from Kenyatta University and a first class honors degree in Environmental Science from Egerton University. She has over five years’ experience in capacity building of community groups especially Water Resource Users Associations (WRUAs) on project management, resource mobilization and proposal writing, advocacy and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E). She joined CETRAD in the year 2011.

ELIZA K. PETER
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing Analyst
Eliza holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from Moi University, majoring in GIS and Remote Sensing. She has over five years’ experience in geospatial data capture, analysis and mapping. She is also involved in planning and technical assistance of GIS trainings. She joined CETRAD in 2011.

Dr. EMILY MUTEA
Senior Research Scientist
Emily holds a PhD in Geography and Sustainable Development from the Institute of Geography, University of Bern Switzerland and a Master’s degree in Environmental Planning and Management from the University of Nairobi and a BSc in Environmental Science from Egerton University. She has over 6 years experience in undertaking research. She previously coordinated the African Food, Agriculture, Land and Natural Resource (AFGROLAND) project. Emily joined CETRAD in 2014.

FAITH MARETE
Accounts Assistant
Faith holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration specialized in Accounting from Kenya Methodist University and a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA K). She has over five years’ experience in application of accepted accounting principles and ensuring appropriate accounting control procedures. Faith joined CETRAD in 2011.

MARGERY W. KANGANGI
Office Administrative Assistant I
Margery hold a Business Education Single & Group Certificates (BES&GC) from Kenya National Examinations Council and a certificate in computer applications. She has over 15 years work experience. She joined CETRAD in the year 2012 after being seconded from the Ministry of Water and Irrigation. She is responsible for front office and secretarial services.

DENNIS KITHINJI
Transport Support Services
Dennis is a driver and has participated in numerous field based projects in different parts of the country. He is a passionate driver and having been on the road for many years, he has excellent knowledge of locations of interest for most projects. He joined CETRAD in the year 2005.
ELIZABETH KIRATHI
Support Staff
Elizabeth joined CETRAD in the year 2011 as a member of support staff under the administration department. She is responsible for the general office cleanliness and kitchen services.
CETRAD runs a rich hydromet data and information base generated from its long term and comprehensive monitoring network in the upper Ewaso Ngiro North river basin. Most of this data is now linked through a real time transmission system and interfaced to its database as well as to some selected Water Resources Users Associations (WRUAs) in the upstream areas.
