How the Centre for Training and Integrated Research in ASAL Development (CETRAD) handles personal data under the Data Protection Act 2019.
Who we are
CETRAD is the data controller for the personal data described on this page. We are based in Nanyuki, Kenya.
Lairagwan Place, Muthaiga 2 Road, Nanyuki
P.O. Box 144-10400, Nanyuki, Kenya
Questions about your personal data: write to the email address below.
What we collect, and why
- Contact enquiries: your name, email address, subject, and message, so we can reply.
- Newsletter: your email address, so we can send the research, training, and data updates you asked for.
- Course enrolment: your name, contact details, and the background you give us, so we can consider a place on a course.
- Vacancy applications: your name, contact details, and the documents you upload, so we can consider you for a role, internship, or attachment.
Why we are allowed to use it
The newsletter is sent with your consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time, and we will stop sending it.
Course and vacancy applications are steps toward a place on a course or a role. We use those details to assess the application and to contact you about it.
We reply to an enquiry because you asked us to. We do not use that message for anything else.
Who else sees it
We do not sell personal data. Messages and newsletters are sent through the site’s email service, which handles the address only so the message can be delivered.
How long we keep it
Enquiry messages are kept while we are dealing with them, and for a short period afterwards. Newsletter addresses are kept until you withdraw consent or unsubscribe. Application records are kept for the recruitment or enrolment process, and for as long as we need them to show how a decision was made.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act 2019 you can ask us for a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we use it, and withdraw consent for the newsletter.
Write to the email address at the top of this page. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in Kenya.
