The overall goal of the TNC’s intervention was to evaluate and promote agricultural pathways in Laikipia and Meru Counties/the Upper Ewaso Ng’iro that can contribute to economic development while protecting wildlife and water resources. CETRAD’s role in the project inception phase is to perform a socioeconomic and agronomic baseline survey in the Upper Ewaso Ng’iro Watershed. The results of the baseline study provide evidences for further design and effective implementation of the “Sustainable Agricultural Intensification and Land Management in Laikipia and Meru, Kenya” project of TNC. The baseline survey was executed on a consultancy basis and therefore the entire cost of the project was covered by the TNC. CETRAD and TNC are negotiating to establish a long term collaborative arrangement as a vehicle to implement follow up activities emerging from the results of the survey
